The Deep Thought of the Article “Our Plastic oceans”
The article describes the information from the plastic ocean. The article surprises us about how bad is the pollution of plastic. I was totally confused by the size of the pollution.Also, I was confused by the location where they have made the pollution.The plastic pollution does not only influence marine life but also our human beings. In this essay, I will give information about my confusions and the related evidence in the article.
In the first place, the amount of pollution in the Ocean is out of my imagination. The huge number “All told , humanity has dumped up to 14 million tons of plastic pollution into the seas.” According to the article, there are a lot of plastic pollution, which are floating on the surface of the ocean. We also hear some new of the plastic pollution in the sea. In the news, we also see the pictures about it It is so hard to degrade. “Scientists have no idea how long that will take to degrade— perhaps hundreds of years, if ever. It will be spend many generations to make degradation.
In addition, I am really confused about where the pollution coming from. I can understand maybe from factories but how could from the fish nets and other plastic fishing gear. Many countries nearby ocean will produce more pollution. “As a consequence, the Hudson River in New York, for example, dumps about 150 million plastic fibers into the ocean every day.’’ This also happens in China, especially the places where there are lots of factories near the ocean.
As for location they go and the influence of the creatures, I am also confused where does it all go. And influence of creatures main oceans in the world. When the ocean currents make the plastic pollutions into California and Hawaii. At same time, North Atlantic is also influenced. A part from the location a lot of creatures are influenced. Many marine lives are killed by plastic pollution. In the article, the author uses the evidence that “In June, after a struggling whale died in a Thai canal, its stomach was found to contain 17 pounds of plastic, including 80 shopping bags, which had prevented the whale from digesting food.” The human also influenced by plastic pollution. When the people eat the fish which have eaten polluted resources. They are usually sick for that the sea food also contained plastic pollution.
People to address the plastic pollutions in the world. “The European Union launched a “plastics strategy” this year that aims to make all plastic packaging recyclable by 2030.” This is the global efforts all over the world. In my life I also hear a lot of news about global international cooperation to deal with the problem not only United States but also China. Also there are good news about the methods of degrading of plastic.
In conclusion, I hope the ocean plastic pollution will be solved. Even though, I had some confusions when I read the article, I totally realized the bad influence of the of the plastic pollution in the ocean and I hope the all nations in the world could deal with it together.
